The Café “Cour du Miracle” is named for its courtyard,
where local legend tells of a miracle that occurred in the 18th century.
The Café itself is a deceptively spacious, renovated stone townhouse, located in the heart of the old town. Our walls are decorated with paintings and beautiful wood turnings from local English and French artists.
We are open from 11am to 7pm Wednesday to Sunday. Every Friday evening we have a “pub night” where we stay open until 10pm (or thereabouts!) and offer a three course meal, which is a great way to get to know the local community. The café is open for eleven months of the year, closing in February. Event-specific opening times can be seen in our newsletter.
We are happy to take bookings for lunches or our Friday evening meals, but normally it is not essential unless you wish to reserve a specific table or have a large group. We also cater for special events, so why not call us at 02 51 00 54 93 or drop us a line to see what we can offer you?
While you are enjoying your drink or meal you can browse through the latest glossy mags, or take a free copy of the Deux Sèvres Monthly magazine, where you can find information on what’s on, along with details of local trades and services. We also hold cards from local tradespeople and restaurants in the café, or you can check out the popular “In The Vendée” website.
The vibrant village of Vouvant is always alive at weekends and holiday times with walkers, cyclists and tourists flocking to visit the ancient medieval ramparts and tower of Melusine, and the beautiful Vouvant-Mervent forest with its many paths and water ways.
We offer year-round events for the local community as well as holiday-makers. Our quiz nights have become quite famous with the local English speakers, and everyone enjoys our Carol singalong at Christmas! “Paperback Jan” is here in the afternoon on the first Wednesday of each month with her wide selection of new and used paperbacks and DVDs. We hold a stock of Phoenix cards supplied by Mala and some beautiful handmade cards by Tina. See our newsletter to keep up with what’s on.
