Newsletter – March 2017

Hi folks!

Well we made it back through the rain and high winds but there have been a couple of casualties namely our shutters – not through the back of the car this time but ripped off their locks by the high winds and the TV aerial pulled off the chimney! Oh well at least we are both safe and sound and ready to re-open on Wednesday. The cafe has had a bit of a facelift inside with a little bit of repainting and some new seat cushions and, of course, some new ideas for the upcoming season – more about that later….

Ok what’s coming up this month – here we go:

Wednesday 8th March: We will be open from 11.00am for drinks and cake, and then for lunch from 12.00noon until 2.30pm. After lunch Cindy will be here from 2.30pm onwards with her selection of new and used paperback books. Why not pop along for a browse, a cup of tea, coffee and a slice of cake or a glass of wine or beer – it’s a great chance to catch up with all that’s going on in the village and local community too. Cindy is here until around 4.30pm so there’s plenty of
time to come along during the afternoon. The latest copies of the Deux Sevres and the Living magazines will be available for you to pick up too.

Friday 17th March – St Patrick’s Day Special We will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day by offering a special Plat du Jour for lunchtime – Karen’s homemade Irish Stew – which can be accompanied by our 2 for 1 offer on Guinness and Magners – now that’s a deal not to be missed! The plat du jour will also be incorporated
into our Friday evening menu as one of our main courses for the evening. Two courses for 15€00 or three courses for 18€00, we look forward to seeing you.

Sunday 26th March – Roast Dinner Day! Get your table bookings in fast for our second Roast Dinner Sunday! We will have a two course dinner for 15€00 or three course for 18€00 – the roasts on offer are either Roast Beef or Slow Roast Lamb Shanks, both served with roast potatoes, two vegetables, gravy and of course
Yorkshire Pudding, as well as the usual trimmings (mint sauce, horseradish, mustard). Please make your booking as soon as possible as places are limited.

Saturday 1st April: Our March quiz is a week later than usual, not an April Fool joke – just not enough time to do everything! Please book your table next time you pop in for a drink. The meal to be served will be lasagna with garlic bread, and then a dessert, and of course we will have some fabulous prizes as usual. The doors open at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start.

And that’s it for now, we will keep you informed of anything else that comes along during the month and look forward to seeing you soon in
the cafe,

Kind regards
Karen and Paul
