Newsletter December 2016

Dear All,

Good Wishes to you and yours for the Festive Season!  We are getting into the swing of Christmas here in Vouvant and the Christmas Market last weekend was the beginning of the festivities. I can definitely say it was enjoyed by all who visited and we were very busy, apologies to anyone who was unable to get through the doors! You will be pleased to know that the car park is now fully re-opened so there are plenty of places to park when you visit us in Vouvant.  OK, what is happening this month……. besides Christmas Day itself of course!
Wednesday 7th December: from 2.30pm until around 4.30pm Cindy will be here with Bayleaf Second-hand and New books. Lots of good choices for those evenings in front of the fire. Come along into the warm and have a cuppa or a coffee while you choose from Cindy’s large stock of books.
We have lots of beautiful hand-made Christmas cards in the cafe – some from Estelle and some from Julie, both ladies are very talented and the cards are really pretty and reasonably priced, perfect for those special friends and family members. The Little French Sewing Bee has also been busy with lots of hand-made gifts which again are very reasonably priced and perfect for last minute gifts ideas. If you like something in wood, then there are some lovely crafted bowls and candlesticks made by Richard – a really special present for someone really special!
Saturday 17th December – Christmas Quiz.
Our famous (or should that be infamous!) Christmas Quiz takes place from 7.00pm on Saturday 17th December.  The meal is our take on Christmas Lunch: A fresh fish starter; stuffed chicken breast wrapped in bacon with roast potatoes and vegetables and pigs in blankets, followed by an individual Christmas pudding and fresh cream. Then of course there will be the quiz with at least one round of Christmas themed questions and lots of lovely prizes.  Tables of four are invited to join us, the cost of a ticket is 18,50 Euros per person which includes the quiz, Christmas meal, crackers and a present for everyone, as well as the prizes of course!  Please book your place with Paul when you are next in the cafe.
Friday 23rd December – Christmas Carols in the Cafe
From 6.00pm on Friday 23rd December you are invited to join us for Christmas Carols in the Cafe. We will be led in our carol singing by Jacky, who has kindly agreed to help us host the evening. There will be nibbles and mince pies for everyone and as the carol sheets have carols in both English and French, all are welcome. We look forward to seeing you and hearing you in full voice!
Christmas Day, Sunday 25th December.
We will be open from 11.00am to 2.00pm on Christmas morning for pre-Christmas Dinner drinks – come along and enjoy a drink and show off your Christmas presents!
