Hello everyone and welcome to the May edition of the Cafe Cour du Miracle Newsletter. It looks as though we have some good weather this week, let’s hope it stays for a while! OK on to what is happening this month, and there sure seems to be quite a bit going on:
Wednesday May 4th:
Cindy will be here in the cafe with her stock of new and used paperbacks from 2.30pm until around 4.30pm. We also have copies of the Deux-Sevres magazine for you to take away.
Sunday May 15th:
The annual Plant Fair will be held on Sunday 15th from 10.00am until around 6.00pm at the Place Bail (the parking area opposite the cafe). Parking will be available in the camping car area at the top of the village and as instructed in the day. There are usually a good number of suppliers and lots to see, not only plants but also sculptures, wood items and tools for your garden. Come along and join us on the day.
Saturday 28th May:
It’s our fabulous quiz night! Teams of four are welcome to come and join us, booking is essential as tables do run out quite quickly. The price is 12€50 per person, including a two course meal (Chicken wrapped in bacon with a pepper sauce, potatoes and vegetables, plus dessert) and of course our fun quiz with great prizes. Please call in to book your table and pay for your tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. (Bookings will only be accepted with full payment).
Many of you will have known Ian Self who sadly lost his fight with Cancer earlier this year. His wife, Caroline, will be holding a Charity Memorial Day on the 8th June on behalf of Cancer Research when she will be holding a raffle of kindly donated items. We have raffle tickets in the cafe together with a specially designed badge which we are selling on behalf of the charity. Caroline wrote a short article regarding the charity day in the Deux Sevres magazine, we have a copy if you would like to know more details of the event or the charity collection.
We now have a lovely selection of handmade gifts from a new supplier in the village, and some new beautiful handmade greetings cards, all at every good prices, together with the wooden turned bowls and candlesticks that have proved very popular in the past. Why not pop along and have a look at what we have in the cafe when you next come in to visit Vouvant. There are always lots of beautiful paintings to see too, either in the cafe, church or at the galleries and studios throughout the village. We’d love to see you!
There are lots of “fete” days in May and we will be open as usual from Wednesday to Sunday each week. Don’t forget we are open late on a Friday evening for both food and drinks and we would love to see you.
We look forward to seeing you soon in the cafe,
Karen and Paul
