Can you believe it, only three and a bit weeks until Christmas Day and so much to fit in before then! We have lots to help celebrate the Christmas season; our own recipe Vin Chaud which has a very special ingredient that makes it different from all the rest! We also have our Christmas beer – the Leffe de Noel – a spicy dark ale which has a real seasonal taste and the ability to “warm the cockles of your heart” as they say. And of course we also have our wide range of cakes and pastries, from our favourite Victoria Sandwich, to the American Carrot Cake and “Rocky Toffee Cheesecake” to the Portuguese “Pastel Nata” (custard tart), all very good with a cup of our tangy Christmas Tea or glass of warm mulled wine (vin chaud).
Well there is lots happening this month so here we go:
Wednesday 2nd December – Cindy will be in the cafe from 2.30pm until around 4.30pm with her selection of new and used paperback books. We will also have this months issue of the Deux Sevres magazine and the December/January edition of the Living magazine here in the cafe for you to pick up and peruse at your leisure.
Friday 4th December – from 6.00pm we will be joined by Chris Payne who will be giving a talk and holding a discussion group for anyone who is interested in beekeeping, or apiculture to give it its proper name. There will be an opportunity to see a hive close up (without the bees!) learn all about keeping bees and a chance to have a go at making some beeswax furniture polish. If you are interested in coming along you can just turn up or call us here at the cafe (0251005493) or Chris on 0251506750 for further details.
Friday 18th December – Bazoges en Pareds – from 6.00pm You are invited to join the locals and expat community for Christmas Carols at the church, with mince pies and vin chaud to follow. The organist will be Anthony Langford and there will be a collection for charity.
