Apologies for the delay in sending out our newsletter, I have had a few problems connecting on the internet – all OK now though!
So what is happening this month at the Café Cour du Miracle and in Vouvant?
Wednesday 6th May
From 10.00am until 1.00pm “Val Assist” will be here to help those who have made appointments with their tax forms and questions. If you do need help completing your tax forms or have any questions, give Val a call or drop her an email and she should be able to help you.
From 2.30pm until 4.30pm Paperback Jan will be here with her collection of secondhand and new books for you to browse through and buy. Come along and see her and meet Cindy and Keith who will be taking over from her in the near future.
As mentioned in last month’s Newsletter, we will be holding a Book Signing event by one of our own local Vendeen authors – J.T. Byrde. Jim’s debut novel “Sled Dog Gun: Aviemore Dreaming” has just been published and he will be in the cafe this Wednesday from 3.00pm onwards. Many of you will have met Jim and his Huskies at various local events and if the weather is good he will be out in the courtyard with his rig and his dog! Let’s hope the rain stays away.
We all know that in May there are a few holidays in France and we shall be open for all of them so we hope to see some of you in the café. We will be closed as usual on Monday’s and Tuesday’s throughout May, and also on Wednesday 27th as we have to return to the UK to pick up vital supplies (Icing sugar for our cakes and bacon for the bacon butties and burgers!)
Our quiz in May is on the last Saturday, the 30th May, and we shall be serving our very special Chicken Caesar Salad with crusty bread, followed by an ice cream dessert. We will offer a vegetarian salad option too. If you wish to book a table please let Paul know as soon as possible and come in and pay for your tickets. (10 euros each as usual).
And finally, don’t forget we are open late on Friday evenings when we offer varied and changing evening menus, usually with a special dish not featured on our day-time menu. And of course if you don’t want to eat you can also join us for a drink and a good old chat! We also have some additions to our drinks menu including the return of Bombardier English Bitter sold in pint bottles, and in addition to Magners Apple Cider we now have their Pear version too. We also have, from Australia, a non-alcoholic Ginger Beer which is very refreshing and great if you have to drive.
OK folks, that’s all for now. Hope you have a great month and look forward to seeing you in the Café soon,
Paul and Karen Braun
