Apologies for the delay in getting this newsletter to you, as you know we have only just returned from vacation and we had a little dust to clear up after the works on the walls and roof had been completed! It all looks very good and is worth the two days it has taken to clean up. Both the walls and the roof were undertaken by a builder here in the village and we would definitely recommend his company.
We have a number of events in March happening in the cafe, each an opportunity to come and see our “new” cafe!
Guest Beers for March:
We have a new Leffe beer specially brewed for Spring – “L’Apertitif de Printemps” – which has a taste of fresh fruit and is specially suited to the bright spring days (like we had today maybe?) We are also changing our main beer during March from Kronenbourg 1664 to another beer brewed by Kronenbourg called Fleuron D’Alsace. This has a slightly darker colour and a richer flavour and is brewed in the traditional Alsace way and is 5.5% degrees. Part of the reason for this change is that we have always tried to give good value for money and a quality beer, but the price for 1664 has risen 3 times in the past year and we do not want to pass this price increase on to our customers. By choosing an alternative but equally as good quality beer we are able to keep prices at their current level. We are always open to suggestions for new beers and product and do value your comments.
We also now stock the Melusine beer in bottles. This is a local beer which is brewed in the Vendee and is quite strong!
Friday Late-Night Opening
Most Friday nights we extend our opening hours until 10.00pm. Tomorrow (8th March) we will be holding a private function and therefore the cafe will not be open. However as from next Friday (15th March) we will be open as usual. We often try to offer something different to entice you out of your warm sitting rooms and into the cafe. Apart from our usual range of wines, beers and hot and cold soft drinks, we also offer our full menu. If you would like to join us on a Friday evening for a meal it is always a good idea to book a table, just give us a quick call and we can confirm your reservation.
On Friday the 22nd March we have a special event, as mentioned in last month’s newsletter. John and Leone Henstridge will be bringing their collection of beautiful jewelry into the cafe. All items are reasonably priced and are ideal for Birthday or Anniversary gifts, or for a treat for yourself.
Saturday 30th March – Quiz Night
The return of the Cafe Cour du Miracle Quiz night – an event not to be missed! Book your table for four team members and secure your reservation with a 10euro deposit to ensure you get a chance to win one of our super prizes or our now famous “wooden spoon” for the best losers! The tickets are 10euros each and include a two course meal and entry into the quiz. As we are close to St Patrick’s Day we will have an Irish theme and the meal will be stew with creamed tatties and crusty bread, with a dessert. There will be a few spot prizes too to liven up events!
If you are looking for a venue for a private function we can off the cafe for your sole use. We can seat up to 24 in the cafe and can tailor a menu to your requirements and budget. Come and chat to us for further details.
Looking forward to seeing you soon,
Karen and Paul Braun
