Season’s Greetings Everyone!
I can’t believe it is December already, it only feels like last month we were wishing everyone a lovely summer – the year seems to have disappeared….. Well we have lots going on this month so here goes:
Wednesday 3rd December – Paperback Jan
On Wednesday Jan will be here with her large quantity of various paperbacks and DVDs for sale to everyone. Come along and have a look and see if there is something there to tickle your fancy!
Friday 7th December – “une soirée cosmetique”
On Friday evening we will be hosting a Cosmetic and Jewelry Party from the Frederic M range. Cecilia Auguin will be your hostess and beauty councillor and she will be able to advise you regarding the cosmetics and show you the beautiful range of jewelry she has on offer. Why not
pop along and join us for an opportunity to have a look for last minute Christmas gifts or even a little present for yourself! Cecilia does speak English and can explain the products very well and would love to meet you. The evening starts from 7.30pm and there will be nibbles on offer …….. Looking forward to seeing you on Friday evening…..
Friday December 14th – Christmas Carols at the Church of Saint Martha,
Puy de Serre
There will be a carol service from 4pm at the church followed by mince pies and mulled wine.
Christmas Markets – Marche de Noel – throughout December:
Don’t forget if you are here on vacation – or of course just want to get some Christmas Cheer – we have a number of Christmas Markets in the area: on the 7th during the day there is a Christmas Market at the Tipsy bar in Coulonges sur l’Autize and on the 9th another market at the Pause! Cafe in l’Absie. Further afield there is a fabulous Marche de Noel in Nantes, throughout the city there are pockets of stalls selling all sorts of goodies, from food to toys, chocolates to candles, and of course the obligatory mulled wine!
There is also the Christmas show at the Puy de Fou although you will need to check the times and prices – preferably on line so that you can book your tickets at the same time. We have WiFi here in the cafe so if you need to check details you can always pop along for a drink and use the WiFi services at the same time.
As from Wednesday (3rd December) the cafe will have its usual seasonal spirit – Christmas tree, decorations and of course mulled wine and Christmas Beer. We will have mince pies available in the weeks leading up to Christmas Day and will also be offering a lovely new dessert – Christmas Pudding with either custard, ice cream or cream – yummy!
Finally folks, our Christmas Eve Carol sing-along is an event not to be missed. From 7.30pm on Christmas Eve we will be singing some of our, and hopefully your, favourite carols. We will have nibbles and mini Christmas treats for everyone who sings along and, if the weather is kind enough for us we will try to hold the evening outside in the courtyard – lets hope it doesn’t rain this year!
Our Seasonal Opening Hours this year are as follows:
Christmas Eve – Monday 24th – we will be open all day – and have our Carol sing-along in the evening – see above.
Christmas Day – Tuesday 25th – we will be open from 11.00am to 2.00pm
for pre-dinner drinks.
Wednesday 26th to Friday 28th December – we will be closed for these three days.
Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th December we will be open as usual from 11.00am.
Monday and Tuesday – 31st December and 1st January – closed as usual and then back to open on Wednesday 2nd December as per our usual opening hours.
So folks, hope to see you soon in the cafe and for those of you who will be away from France over the festive season – Merry Christmas and a very Happy and Healthy New Year!
