Well what a turn up for the books! Last night I started the newsletter with a line about it being “dark and damp” and what happened this morning – bright sunshine – how fickle can this weather be! Well we have quite a few things going on this month so here we go:
Wednesday 7th November:
Paperback Jan will be here from 2.30pm onwards with her selection of paperbacks and DVDs. She has absolutely loads of books so there is always something to tickle your fancy! Come along and join us for a while. We have a very good selection of Christmas cards in the cafe at the moment, both from Phoenix Cards and our own cards showing local views painted and drawn by Shirley Perry, our favourite local art teacher.
Sunday 11th November:
As you probably realise this is Remembrance Day and poppies are available from the cafe. There will be a ceremony in the village and as soon as we have full details we will let you know. Usually the service begins outside the Maire at about 10.45am and we all meet first at the cafe at around 10.15. Please keep an eye out for further details if you wish to come along.
Saturday 17th November:
As we will not be around at the end of the month we will be bringing our Quiz Night forward this month to the 17th. Our Halloween quiz night in October was a great success and we had a very good turnout of ghouls and ghosties – well done to everyone who dressed up. As you know our quizzes are all about having a fun evening, good food and a few drinks with friends so the questions are never too difficult! The meal for this quiz on the 17th will be a selection of Tapas and then Spanish Chicken served with rice. The evening will start at 7.30pm and tables of four can be booked with a 10 Euro deposit with Paul behind the bar. As usual, tickets will be 10 Euros each which includes the quiz and meal. We look forward to seeing you!
Thursday 29th November:
There will be a night not to miss on this day – Loulesbelles and Gentle Touch Hair and Beauty will be holding a fashion show at the Lion D’Or Restaurant in St Hilaire de Voust from 8pm. Tickets are 12 euros which includes dessert and a glass of wine. You can get your tickets from either Lesley at Loulesbelles on 0649419498 or Cathy at Gentle Touch on 0251513471. They will also be holding a raffle so good luck to everyone who goes along!
As mentioned earlier we will not be around at the end of the month.
We will be closing from Friday 23rd November until we reopen on Friday 30th November as we will be going to meet our grandson at last – looking forward to lots of cuddles!
