Looks like that lovely Spring weather has hopefully returned to us – I hope so as we’ve put the tables and chairs back in the courtyard ready for the sun and the Palet games! We’ve also been out in the courtyard planting up our new planters and pots – we are adding more plants and flowers this season to make the place feel and look even prettier – hope you like them.
We also have new parasols – keeping the green theme – and we’d like to think that the courtyard will be an oasis of calm and coolness in the hot summer months to come.
We should have the courtyard looking pretty for Easter at the end of April – late this year isn’t it? We will be offering some specials for the Easter holiday week (20-25th April) – little chocolate nests with easter eggs, a beautiful chocolate gateau also decorated with easter eggs, and of course, home-made Hot Cross Buns – either toasted, plain or with jam – Scrummy!!
After Easter we will be changing our Opening Hours – we will be re-opening every Monday (only close on a Tuesday) and our late night will be Friday evening when we will be open until 10.00pm. At the beginning of May we will also be moving toward our summer menu so will be able to offer quiches, omelets and salads alongside our stalwarts – steak haches, baguettes, sandwiches and toasties. We can also offer a take-away sandwich service (out of main lunch hours) and hope that this will also give you more choices for your summer lunches and picnics. Pop in and have a look at the new menu from Wednesday 4th May onwards.
Another date for your diaries – this one also in May. We will have been here in the Cafe for one year at the beginning of May (No, we can’t believe it either!) and to mark this special occasion we will be having a “Birthday Bash” on Saturday 14th May.
We will have Troubladour here with us again to provide the music and there will be nibbles and a great party atmosphere to celebrate in style! The fun will start from 7.30pm onwards and we hope you can come along and join in the celebrations!
We had our final quiz evening for the winter season on the 2nd April with Paul cooking up a very good Chicken Curry. The evening was a great success with the “Brewers Group” team taking the winning prize, closely followed by the “Jeunes et Anciennes” and the “Famous 5″”. Well done to everyone and many thanks to you all for your support through all the quizzies. Altogether we have raised 75 Euros for the local school – well done to us all! We promise we’ll bring the quiz back
again next Autumn.
As most of you know Jan will be here with her English book sale in the cafe on Wednesday 6th April. Jan has a wide selection of books and DVD’s and she is always pleased to see you – she is here from around 2pm through to around 4.30pm. Also on Wednesday Mala will be here too with her collection of lovely cards and notelets – all at very reasonable prices. Why not come along and have a look at both the books and cards and have a cuppa and slice of cake.
Finally folks, please make a note of the following dates; We will be taking a break before the summer season and will be closed from Monday 11th to Friday 15th April. We will also be closed on Friday EVENING only on the 8th April.
Ok folks that’s all for now, look forward to seeing you all soon in the cafe
